GYMDAWG JIVE  #1  2007-2008 Season 10-29-07

Had to be likin’ the efforts of our Level C girls in their first meet of the season as they came out flying in winning the FIRST PLACE TEAM AWARD amongst the 7 teams entered this past Sunday.

In scoring 90.25, our GYMDAWG TEAM topped last year’s highest C score by OVER 10 POINTS, and put up the highest score for a Level C team here in 3 years!

EVERY gymnast had a contributing TEAM SCORE.

EVERY gymnast had at least 3 CAREER PERSONAL BEST SCORES.

EVERY gymnast received her first STATE QUALIFYING SCORE.

THREE of the six Level C’s received LEVEL B SCORES.

Our squad placed in 27 out of a possible 30 places.

Leading the way was HALEY who scored a 30.0 in winning FIRST PLACE in the All-Around. HALEY also received FIRST PLACE AWARDS on Floor and Uneven Bars, where on that event, she scored over 2 points HIGHER than her previous Bar PERSONAL BEST! Her All-Around score was almost 3 points higher than her highest All-Around from last season!

Scoring right behind HALEY, was BRIANNA, who went 29.45, topping her PERSONAL BEST in her All-Around by almost 2 full points! BRI’S effort on Balance Beam, where she “STUCK” her routine, gave her a FIRST PLACE AWARD on that event.

Having an awesome Beam and also “STICKING” her routine and putting up a PERSONAL BEST there, while winning FIRST PLACE on this event in her age group was JESS. Her All-Around score of 29.4 was yet another PERSONAL BEST by over a point!

Besides JESS and HALEY, MEGAN and KATIE also had 4 PERSONAL BEST SCORES. Their identical 27.7’s bested their prior high All-Arounds by 1 and 1.8 points respectively.

In her first competition ever, ANA accounted herself quite nicely as she scored a 27.5 and had a contributing team score in placing THIRD on Beam.

All in all COACH KIM was very pleased and tremendously proud of the entire TEAM’s efforts as she and COACH ERIK will be looking for improvements as the year goes on. Because realistically, despite how well the girls did on Sunday, our squad has the potential to score MUCH HIGHER. The win is nice, but there is a lot to work on with the next meet in our DAWG HOUSE upcoming on November 18th.

Shout-outs go to Preteamers, TORI, ALTHEA, ASHLEY, and KELSEY, and to the injured, OLIVIA, who all made the trip to support the Level C’s.

Special acknowledgement to KELLY, one of our Level A GYMDAWGS, who on this past Thursday set a NEW UNEVEN BAR RECORD at her High School!

GYMDAWG JIVE LEVEL A FINAL 05-07-07

The 2006-2007 JOGA season ended this past weekend with the final meets of the year, LEVEL A STATES.

MICHELLE DELYANNIS, who is in her first year competing for EXTREME, represented our GYMDAWGS, and accounted for herself quite nicely!

As made mention after last week’s Level B States, our staff is always expecting that our gymnasts are ready to “peak” at these season finales, and MICHELLE was able to step up and satisfy those expectations!

As has been our “luck” at every one of the State meets this year, once again, our rotation started off on BEAM. Despite a fall on this event, MICHELLE was still able to put up one of her highest Beam scores of the year.

From there, she put on a beautiful FLOOR routine to go 8.675 on that exercise, which was good enough for a 9th PLACE award.

MICHELLE then had a PERSONAL BEST on VAULT in scoring 9.1, giving her a 6th PLACE medal on that event.

In finishing up on BARS, MICHELLE was able to put up a high enough score to give her a CAREER PERSONAL BEST TOTAL in her ALL-AROUND, as she ended the competition scoring a 34.2.

That ALL-AROUND PERSONAL BEST enabled MICHELLE to capture the 8th PLACE award overall at Level A States and capped off her season with a great highlight!

In looking back at this season, despite having gymnasts that are very young in terms of competitive careers, COACH KIM and our school are most proud of ALL of their combined efforts!

EXTREME had 4 girls at the STATE meets this year. Out of a possible 20 AWARDS in those competitions, our GYMDAWGS collected 13 MEDALS, and more importantly, had a total of 9 PERSONAL BESTS in their season finales!

Whether they were at States or not, this current group of kids on TEAM, have a huge upside, with loads of potential! COACH KIM and the rest of our EXTREME staff look forward very much, towards working with these gymnasts and watching their successes, as they grow as both athletes, and young ladies!

BE EXTREME!

GYMDAWG JIVE FINAL LEVEL B

Leading up to States, one always hopes and expects that the gymnast is ready, ready to “peak”, ready to put closure on all the work it took to get to this level of competition.

And if the coaching staff has the athlete properly prepared, then, the gymnast should have plenty of successes, no matter how big or how small.

Sunday, at the JOGA Level B State Championship, MARGAUX TERHUNE was indeed ready and prepared! In the final meet of her season, MARGAUX exceeded all expectations and finished off with her best effort of the year!

Despite a shaky start, being up on BEAM, in her first rotation, MARGAUX picked up momentum as the meet went on, as she scored her 2nd highest UNEVEN BARS score ever, while having 3 CAREER, PERSONAL BESTS on FLOOR, VAULT and ALL-AROUND!

MARGAUX’S effort on BARS, gave her a THIRD PLACE MEDAL on that event, with her 8.7 on VAULT, also awarded her with a THIRD PLACE MEDAL there.

Her performance on FLOOR though, was outstanding! As she has done all season long, MARGAUX continued her “streak” of FIRST PLACE finishes on FLOOR, as her 8.475 score, won her the JOGA LEVEL B STATE CHAMPIONSHIP on that event!

Making it a perfect 6 out of 6 meets this season, that MARGAUX captured FIRST PLACE on FLOOR!

It should be noted, that out of the 226 competitors, in all of the age groups of the 5 sessions at B-States, only 5 gymnasts had Floor scores higher than MARGAUX’S! Not too shabby for an 11-year old in the 2nd year of competing!

Her third PERSONAL BEST, 31.95 in the ALL-AROUND, gave her yet another THIRD PLACE MEDAL!

COACH KIM was so very pleased and proud of MARGAUX’S performance!

MARGAUX’S FLOOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP adds another STATE CHAMPION to KIM’S resume, making it 46 now in her JOGA coaching career!

Hats off also to the other TEAM coaches that worked with MARGAUX leading up to States, as ERIK, LIZ, and CARLA share in our GYMDAWG PRIDE!

GYMDAWG JIVE FINAL LEVEL C 020507

Season finale for our JOGA Level C gymnasts this past weekend, as JESSICA and BRIANNA had their STATE Competition.

Our GYMDAWGS were shorthanded as HALEY just missed getting medical clearance by about a week, and our TEAM missed her presence.

BRIANNA and JESSICA accounted themselves very well, as both are first year competitors and this was their first STATE MEET ever.

Their efforts were most noteworthy, as both girls won awards on multiple events. More importantly though was the fact that each girl put up at least one PERSONAL BEST SCORE in their last meet of the season!

JESS wound up placing 13th in the All-Around with a 28.35, 11th on Floor, 7th on Vault going 8.2, and 6th on Beam. Her Beam routine was almost flawless, as she had a PERSONAL BEST on that event, scoring a 7.7 there, and topping her previous high score on Beam by almost a full point! JESS also had PERSONAL BESTS on Vault, and her All-Around. Significant in those personal high scores, JESSICA finished this year off with the Level C Team’s highest scores this season on Vault, Beam, and All-Around!

BRIANNA ended the competition’s last session in fine fashion, picking up a 5th place award on Vault, and a 3rd place award on Floor. BRI’S Floor routine was perhaps the very best that it has been this entire year! Her 7.8 score there, not only gave her a PERSONAL BEST on that event, but also was the Level C’s highest score this season on the Floor Exercise!

JESS and BRIANNA’S efforts should be applauded, as our school’s rallying cry of “FINISH STRONG” was most evident by the performances of these 2 gymnasts!

Ladies, you made COACH KIM, very proud, as you represented our GYMDAWGS quite right!

YOU ARE EXTREME!

GYMDAWG JIVE 011507

Well, it didn’t go exactly as hoped and planned for with our Level C girls this past weekend, in their last opportunity to qualify for States. With some unusually and unexpected tough judging in the opening event on Floor, our kids were truly up against it right from the get-go. Gymnastics is a very subjective sport with regards to judging. Unfortunately, it seemed that one particular judge forgot that this was primarily a LEVEL C competition and in essence, made it fairly impossible for our State hopefuls to get their necessary scores. Nevertheless, without bitterness or crying the “poor-mes”, our gymnasts were very resilient in finishing off the regular season in admirable fashion.

MEG, REBECCA, and KATIE will have to wait till next year for States, as their season’s ended this past weekend. COACH KIM was so very proud of these kids as never once during this season did their efforts waver as they gave everything that they had each and every competition. Shaking off their disappointments from Floor, each of these girls came back with their highest event scores of the meet in the Vault rotation immediately afterwards. Then, closed their seasons out and finished strong with their final event on Beam. For those achievements, they should feel very proud, as it is those types of efforts that will bear successes in the future!

JESS had a nice warm-up to States as she picked up a couple of 2nds on Vault and in her All-Around.

BRIANNA could quite possibly be a force at States, as she once again swept all of the 1sts in her age group, and had a PERSONAL BEST on Beam with a nice “stuck” routine!

MARGAUX continued with her Level B success, with 1sts on Vault, Floor, and the All-Around. While she added PERSONAL BEST scores on Bars and her All-Around.

Leading our GYMDAWGS in scoring was our Level A gymnast MICHELLE, who had PERSONAL BESTS on Bars, Beam, and All-Around.

BRIANNA and JESS head to C-States, while we are hoping that HALEY gets her medical clearance so that she too, can join her teammates in the C season finale.

The next competitions for our GYMDAWGS will be OLIVIA’S first USAG Level 9 meet in a couple of weeks, C-States to follow, and then the continuation of the Level A and B seasons for MARGAUX and MICHELLE.

 BE EXTREME!

GYMDAWG JIVE 01-08-07

Lots to feel quite right about after this past Sunday’s competition in our DAWGHOUSE, with 12 PERSONAL BESTS from our girls.

Leading the team in scoring, and putting up her necessary 2nd score to qualify for A-STATES, was MICHELLE, with a 32.45. MICHELLE swept the board with FIRSTS in her age group and had a PERSONAL BEST on Vault, where she was the only gymnast in the competition to score a 9.0 for the day!

Also sweeping FIRSTS in her group was BRIANNA, who helped the C TEAM with 3 contributing scores.

REBECCA had a great accomplishment nailing her “fly-away” dismount on Bars for the first time ever, while picking up a PERSONAL BEST on Balance Beam.

MEGAN scored a couple of SECONDS, had a PERSONAL BEST on Beam, and just missed out on her 2nd State score.

Despite an injury to her foot, JESSICA came away with an awesome meet with 3 PERSONAL BESTS and 3 FIRSTS. JESS had her highest scores ever on Beam, in her All-Around, and on Vault, where she was the only Level C in the entire competition to score an 8 on any of the events!

Level B gymnast, MARGAUX threw a wonderful Vault and picked up a PERSONAL BEST on that event.

Perhaps the “feel-good” story of the day has to go to KATIE, who has been injured for this entire year. KATIE got medical clearance to tumble on Friday, came into the gym and did all 4 events at practice on Saturday, and then went out and competed, for the first time in her life Sunday!

And what a meet she had! Putting up a STATE qualifying score first time out, while picking up a FIRST PLACE AWARD on Floor, a couple of SECONDS, and obviously, 5 PERSONAL BESTS!

COACH KIM, toughing it out with injuries of her own, was proud and pleased by ALL of our gymnasts efforts, and will look forward to the last regular season meet of the year as our girls get ready for States.

Special THANK YOUS go out to our awesome PARENTS who helped with this event, to our WONDERFUL OFFICE STAFF who kept things running smoothly, to our other gymnasts who helped out and did a great job on the floor, COACHES LIZ and ERIK for their care, and lastly, to the PARENTS, COACHES, and GYMNASTS from JERSEY SHORE and PINELANDS, who were gracious and fun to have in our school!

Wonderful meet this past weekend in our DAWG-HOUSE, as our girls had mucho successes!

The Level C’s put up their HIGHEST TEAM SCORE this year to go along with 13 PERSONAL BESTS! The biggest improvement on event scoring came on BARS, where the girls improved their total score on that event by a point and a half!

Leading the C team was BRIANNA who put up a 27.6, which is the HIGHEST C SCORE this season. BRI had a PERSONAL BEST score on BARS, while she “STUCK” her BEAM routine.

JESSICA, who just missed qualifying for STATES in her last meet, did it this time as she received the necessary 2nd score for STATES on Sunday. JESS had 2 PERSONAL BESTS, on VAULT and BARS.

REBECCA had her HIGHEST SCORING MEET to date, as she achieved PERSONAL BESTS in her ALL-AROUND, BARS, and on VAULT.

MEGAN got her first qualifying score with STATES, and did so in a big way as she improved her ALL-AROUND SCORE by over 2.5 points! That was a PERSONAL BEST for MEG, as were her BARS, BEAM, and FLOOR.

In her first competition this year, MICHELLE got her first score necessary for A STATES as she led the EXTREME competitors with a 33 point ALL-AROUND.

MARGAUX makes it to B STATES after Sunday’s effort, where she put up PERSONAL BESTS on VAULT, BARS, and her ALL-AROUND.

With the squad being shorthanded, COACH KIM was very pleased with all of the girl’s efforts, particularly on BARS.

Many THANKS goes to ALL THE PARENTS and kids who helped out throughout the weekend as well as our injured gymnasts, KATIE, HALEY, and KAITLYN, for being there to support their TEAMMATES. A Special tip-of-the-hat goes to COACH ERIK, for his awesome National Anthem!

GYMDAWG JIVE 12-04-06

With the competition much tougher, and the judging a bit more stringent, our GYMDAWGS came out of their 2nd meet of the season in pretty good shape.

Team wise, the Level C’s improved their event scores from their first meet on both Vault and on Bars, where they improved their score on that apparatus by a full point!

Qualifying for States, after just 2 meets were BRIANNA and HALEY, while JESSICA missed a State Score by only a tenth.

HALEY was the LEVEL C HIGH SCORER with a 26.25, as she had PERSONAL BESTS on Vault and Bars, with BRIANNA having a PERSONAL BEST on Vault.

REBECCA had a PERSONAL BEST on Bars and just missed placing on that event.

MEG came thru with PERSONAL BESTS on Vault, Floor, and her All-Around.

JESS added to the C Team’s 8 PERSONAL BESTS getting hers on Bars.

MARGAUX had her first meet of the season as a LEVEL B and put up some nice numbers with PERSONAL BESTS on Bars and in the All-Around where she scored a 30.5. MARGAUX now has her first State qualifying score.

All in all, COACH KIM was pleased with the girls’ efforts, as this was a very competitive meet, particularly in the age 10-11 age group. More improvements are expected as the girls have their next 2 meets in OUR DAWG HOUSE!

GYMDAWG JIVE

The competitive season started off with a bang as OLIVIA LISOWSKI kicked the year off in a big-time way in the very first USAG meet of her career.

LIV set a PERSONAL BEST HIGHEST OVERALL SCORE with a 36.4 in finishing SECOND in the ALL-AROUND. Besides the personal best, OLIVIA also set a NEW SCHOOL RECORD with that score! On FLOOR, she won FIRST PLACE as her 9.275 was the HIGHEST SCORE on that event out of the 70+ gymnasts at the competition.

OLIVIA wound up taking an additional SECOND PLACE on BARS and “STICKING” her BEAM routine to capture a THIRD PLACE AWARD there.

While now qualifying out of Level 7, LIV will participate in another meet at that Level in October, as she looks to move forward in her USAG career.

BE EXTREME!

GYMDAWG JIVE 11-13-06 #3

The JOGA season started off well for our Level C GYMDAWGS, as the girls had their first meet ever, and finished as the 4TH place team this past Sunday.

Since this was the first competition of their careers, all of their scores were in essence, “personal bests”. Given how these kids have improved and progressed over these last couple of weeks, expectations are high on lots of personal bests throughout this season!

Our excellent team Coaches, Kim, Erik, Liz, and Megen, are most proud of our little ladies in their opening efforts, as each gymnast had at least one contributing event score towards the overall team tally!

Megan Hill had her event high score of 7.3 on vault, which gave her a 2nd place award on that event. Meg also won a 3rd place medal on bars.

Rebecca Lassen contributed a team score on uneven bars with a 9th place award there, while finishing up 11th in the all-around.

Haley Stack took 3rd in her age group in the all-around, and was the team’s high scorer with a 27.15 overall. Haley also had a 3rd place on floor, and a 2nd on beam.

Jess Innamorato had the team’s highest individual event score with a 7.9 on vault. That effort gave her a 1st place medal there, while Jess also collected a 1st on beam and finished up 2nd in her all-around age group.

Sweeping the board with first place finishes on vault, bars, beam, floor, and the all-around, was Brianna Messinger. Brianna’s individual high score came on floor with a 7.65, while that was the team’s 2nd highest event score for the competition.

Haley, Jess, and Brianna, each now have one qualifying score towards Level C States.

Great job ladies!

BARK LOUD and BE EXTREME!

GYMDAWG JIVE #2 100206

OLIVIA LISOWSKI finished her Level 7 career by performing an “amazing” FLOOR ROUTINE, (as quoted by the judge during the evaluation portion of the meet), that gave her a 9.425 PERSONAL BEST SCORE on that event.

LIV went on to win the FIRST PLACE ALL-AROUND AWARD with a 35.825 final score, in what will be her last competition at this Level.

She will now move up and compete as a Level 8 gymnast the remainder of this year, with her first meet being at Rutgers in November.

With the High School Season in full swing, credit must be given to both OLIVIA and KIM, her coach, for being able to get thru these opening weeks of competitions while in essence, “cross-training” 3 different levels of skills the past couple of months.

FINAL JOGA JIVE 2005/06 SEASON

With 2 young gymnasts and 2 “veterans” our LEVEL A EXTREME TEAM finished off the year with plenty of guts and lots of character at the State final over the weekend at Northstars.

BROOKE ANGELLELLA, in only her second year as a competitive gymnast, made it to A States after starting the year off at Level B. BROOKE improved her State score from last year’s final competition (Level C States), by almost 2 points! Jumping from B to competing at A States is a big move in the same year, but nevertheless, BROOKE held her own and went out throwing gigantic skills on BARS and on VAULT, where her tuck “TSUK” was sky-high! BROOKE’S future in this sport has a lot of potential, as this youngster is fearless when it comes to the big “tricks”.

SARAH ALEGRE is another young athlete on this team, and she too, made the move from B to A in the same year. SARAH, like BROOKE, is also in only her second year of competition, missing out on C States last year due to illness. SARAH came into this event focused and determined and her efforts were rewarded with PERSONAL BESTS on BEAM and most importantly, in her ALL-AROUND. She is another gymnast with a big upside as SARAH has improved all of her skills dramatically over the course of just a year.

CASEY YOUNG, competing in her second A States meet, increased her score from last year’s finale by almost a full point! CASEY put up PERSONAL BESTS on BARS and also too, in her ALL-AROUND. Her total score of 34.3 was good enough for EIGTH place in the ALL-AROUND, while her FLOOR, gave her a FOURTH place award on that event. CASEY is as consistent as they come and this TEAM could always count on her for her efforts.

Leading the TEAM at States was OLIVIA LISOWSKI. OLIVIA was one of only 19 gymnasts to compete at A States as an A+ Level. This Level had some of the most talented and remarkable gymnasts in the State. Despite being the 3rd youngest competitor in A+, OLIVIA’S performance was certainly noteworthy, as she executed probably the very best FLOOR routine of her life in going 9.225, and giving her a FOURTH place award on that exercise. That score was also a PERSONAL BEST for her, while her 35.05 ALL-AROUND led the TEAM. As an A+ gymnast, OLIVIA, along with the other competitors, received a nice plaque, commemorating the accomplishment, courtesy of the JOGA board. LIV also received a lot of congrats from judges, coaches, and other gymnasts for competing her “Phelps” VAULT at this competition.

It was announced that our HEAD COACH, KIM LISOWSKI was elected to the JOGA board as JOGA COACH’S REP, which was a wonderful honor to end the weekend.

All in all, States was another great experience for our girls. Their performances should be congratulated as their efforts and more importantly, their character made our school very proud.
JOGA JIVE B-STATES

Right off the bat, our EXTREME TEAM was up against it as one of our gymnasts got hurt prior to the event. Nevertheless, despite being short-handed, our girls more than held their own and finished off their seasons in fine fashion.

NICOLA DRAGONETTI, in the midst of a very long campaign, came up with her HIGHEST SCORE of the year in the ALL-AROUND, as she posted a 29.55 in this, her 10th meet of the season. NICOLA finished FIFTH on VAULT, which was the first of 5 TOP 5 finishes for our 3 girls.

NICOLE GILE continued her awesome improvement on FLOOR as she went 8.45 on that event, making it 4 out of the last 5 meets where she increased her score there! NICOLE’S PERSONAL BEST FLOOR performance was good enough for a THIRD PLACE finish on that exercise.

KAITLYN OLSON led the team with a 32.0 in the ALL-AROUND, giving her a PERSONAL BEST, as well as a THIRD PLACE AWARD there. KAITLYN added PERSONAL HIGHEST SCORES on BARS and on FLOOR, which placed her FOURTH and SECOND respectively on those events. Her overall score for this meet now takes KAITLYN to LEVEL A.

All in all, to finish the season off at STATES with any PERSONAL BESTS is a big accomplishment. To have EACH of our gymnasts achieve at least one HIGHEST SCORE for their careers at this event makes COACHES KIM and NICHOLE very proud!

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE 04-09-06

Saturday was the last meet for our gymnasts before the season’s finales of States.
And in essence, this was a “fun” competition for our girls, with a couple of the kids trying new skills and routines the first time “for real”.

OLIVIA LISOWSKI led the A TEAM in scoring for the 7th time in 8 meets, putting up her third 35.0 or higher score this year. Despite competing her “Phelps” vault for the first time in competition, LIV continued her season streak of never scoring less than a 9.0 on this event and will look to nail that sonuvagun at States!

BROOKE ANGELLELLA impressed again, and now has become a very strong and viable third scorer for the Level As, as she had another ALL-AROUND PERSONAL BEST in back to back meets! BROOKE added a PERSONAL BEST on BEAM as well, and if she continues with this type of improvement and fixes some of those silly form deductions, the sky is the limit for this youngster!

The consistent CASEY YOUNG just missed busting 34 overall, but she did take FIRST PLACE on FLOOR with a very clean and tight routine.

SARAH ALEGRE put into place some nice new dance moves on FLOOR exercise and the improvements were quite evident as she took SECOND on this event in her first LEVEL A competition ever.

LEA PERO won FIRST PLACE AWARDS on VAULT, FLOOR, and in the ALL-AROUND as she finishes up her regular season in fine fashion.

Ending long seasons, as they extended their competition year with B meets, were CAITLYN ELLINGHAM and MARGAUX TERHUNE. CAITLYN took FIRST PLACE on BEAM and BARS, while MARGAUX ended this season on a strong note with PERSONAL BESTS in her ALL-AROUND and on BARS where she had a full point of improvement.

Some much-needed rest is at hand for our girls as this concluded a run of 6 straight weekends of meets.

COACHES KIM and NICHOLE will spend the next several weeks with a focus on continued improvements, cleaning up form deductions and overall, readying our girls for States.

JOGA JIVE 04-04-06

What an effort by our EXTREME TEAMS this past Sunday! With the LEVEL Bs setting a school record for a LEVEL B TEAM as they WON the FIRST PLACE TEAM TROPHY with a 97.4, while the LEVEL As put up their HIGHEST SCORE to date in going 103.1.

All in all, our girls had 18 individual PERSONAL BESTS!

Leading the way for the B TEAM was NICOLE GILE who put up a NEW SCHOOL RECORD for a LEVEL B gymnast here, as she went 33.2 and WON the ALL-AROUND! That score was a PERSONAL BEST for NICOLE by over 2 points! She once again “STUCK” her BEAM routine in recording another PERSONAL BEST there as well as on BARS. NICOLE now also has her first qualifying score for LEVEL A.

KAITLYN OLSON got a LEVEL A score as well, with PERSONAL BESTS coming in her ALL-AROUND, FLOOR, and VAULT.

Making it to the next level was SARAH ALEGRE, who despite a bloody rip that wouldn’t stop bleeding, went out and got her 2nd qualifying score for LEVEL A.

LEA PERO just missed an A score, but still added PERSONAL BESTS in the ALL-AROUND and on FLOOR.

CAITLYN ELLINGHAM, in like her 100th meet of the season, (phew), has continued to climb in her achievements, with her HIGHEST ALL-AROUND, as well as another PERSONAL BEST on FLOOR.

NICOLA DRAGONETTI, gearing up for B STATES, also had her PERSONAL BEST score on FLOOR EXERCISE.

It’s no wonder the LEVEL A TEAM put up their HIGHEST SCORE of the season, as 3 of the 4 girls had PERSONAL BESTS in their ALL-AROUNDS, with the other, going just 2 tenths below her highest score of the year.

OLIVIA LISOWSKI put up a 35.4 to lead the team, as she had a PERSONAL BEST on BEAM with a “STUCK” routine. OLIVIA becomes the FIRST GYMNAST in our SCHOOL to qualify and be recognized for the newly formed JOGA A+ LEVEL with her SECOND 35+ score this season.

Also nailing a perfect BEAM routine was CASEY YOUNG, who WON FIRST PLACE on that event which was also a PERSONAL BEST for her. This was a pretty significant meet for CASEY, as she did her “giants” on BARS for the first time ever in competition. CASEY added another PERSONAL BEST in her ALL-AROUND.

JODIE WINKELREID and BROOKE ANGELLELLA also put up PERSONAL BESTS in their ALL-AROUNDS as well. BROOKE, in only her second LEVEL A meet, added another PERSONAL BEST on FLOOR.

In addition to all those PERSONAL BESTS, the TEAM girls had 3 HIGHEST EVENT scores of the year, with the As getting theirs on BEAM and the B TEAM putting up top numbers on FLOOR and also on BEAM.

The individual and team improvements are exactly what COACHES KIM and NICHOLE have been looking for. Only 1 more competition to go before STATES. Which will put a cap on 6 consecutive weekends of meets for our girls. They have worked hard, as have the COACHES. With those efforts, SUCCESS, ACCOMPLISHMENTS, and ACHEIVEMENTS are derived………………….

KEEP IT GOING LADIES AND BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE 03-20-06

A couple more TEAM AWARDS came out of Sunday’s competition, with the LEVEL B girls taking FIRST PLACE and the LEVEL A squad winning SECOND.

The B TEAM was led by BROOKE ANGELLELLA, who put up a 31.9 ALL-AROUND, which included a PERSONAL BEST on BEAM. BROOKE’S score now takes her to LEVEL A!

KAITLYN OLSON, in just her second meet of the year, made it a perfect 9 out of 9 Level Bs and As who have made it to STATES with her 30.4! KATELYN’S ALL-AROUND was a new PERSONAL BEST for her, as was her BARS and BEAM events.

LEA PERO added 3 more PERSONAL BESTS with VAULT, BEAM, and her ALL-AROUND, improving the latter by almost a full point!

Also having 3 PERSONAL BESTS was CAITLYN ELLINGHAM, who achieved those in her ALL-AROUND, VAULT and on BARS.

MARGAUX TERHUNE added the 11th PERSONAL BEST for the LEVEL Bs with a high score on VAULT, while SARAH ALEGRE was just 3 tenths away from qualifying for LEVEL A.

All in all, the B TEAM had 6 INDIVIDUAL FIRSTS to go along with their FIRST PLACE TEAM.

The A TEAM high scorer was OLIVIA LISOWSKI with a 34.3, who had all 4 of the A TEAM’S FIRST PLACE MEDALS.

CASEY YOUNG continued her consistent efforts topping 33 and change for the FIFTH STRAIGHT meet!

KELLY WISNEWSKI, still nagged by lingering injuries, improved her ALL-AROUND from last meet by over a point and a half.

With 3 regular season meets to go, COACHES KIM and NICHOLE are expecting and anticipating continued improvements from all of the girls!

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE 03-12-06

Hats off to the EXTREME TEAMS, Levels A and B, as the girls came out of a very competitive meet Sunday in awesomely fine fashion.

BOTH TEAMS had their HIGHEST TOTAL SCORES to date, with the B squad getting THIRD PLACE TEAM with a 95.2, while the Level As went 102.05 to capture the FOURTH PLACE TEAM trophy.

LOTS of really good schools at this competition, so COACHES KIM and NICHOLE were quite pleased with the efforts from our kids! Especially considering that there were 14 PERSONAL BEST SCORES!

Leading the B TEAM was HIGH SCORER SARAH ALEGRE with a 32.05. SARAH had one of the best meets of her young career as she topped her ALL-AROUND total by OVER a point! She also had PERSONAL BESTS on BARS and FLOOR.

Right behind SARAH, was BROOKE ANGELLELLA, who also had a PERSONAL BEST in her ALL-AROUND with a 32.0. Both BROOKE and SARAH now have one qualifying score for LEVEL A. BROOKE added career BESTS on BEAM and BARS.

Nailing one of the TEAM’S TWO FIRST PLACE MEDALS was NICOLE GILE, as she “STUCK” her BEAM routine with a PERSONAL BEST, giving her FIRST PLACE on that apparatus. In addition, NICOLE also had PERSONAL BESTS on FLOOR and her ALL-AROUND, where she just missed a LEVEL A score.

CAITLY ELLINGHAM had the other FIRST PLACE AWARD, as she captured that on FLOOR with yet another PERSONAL BEST.

JODIE WINKELREID, OLIVIA LISOWSKI, CASEY YOUNG, and KELLY WISNEWSKI combined for 10 TOP 5 FINISHES for the Level A TEAM. And as mentioned earlier, this meet was packed with big time gymnasts.

JODIE tied her PERSONAL BEST in her ALL-AROUND, while KELLY gutted out a great FLOOR routine, despite being hobbled with ankle issues. JODIE had 3 THIRDS overall for this competition.

CASEY pitched in with FOURTH and FIFTH place finishes on BARS and in the ALL-AROUND, which were also PERSONAL BEST SCORES for her.

OLIVIA had the TEAM’S HIGH SCORE with a huge 35.6, which not only was a PERSONAL BEST, but also is now the HIGHEST ALL-AROUND SCORE in the short history of our school! LIV added another PERSONAL BEST on BARS which was one of her 3 SECOND PLACES to go along with 2 THIRDS. She too, had a “STUCK” BEAM routine.

With the heart of the meet season upon us, COACHES KIM and NICHOLE are expecting the improvements to continue as the girls get closer to what they have worked so hard for these past several months, the STATES…………..

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE 03-06-06

Mostly great stuff and a little bit of less than good from this weekend’s meet.

The Level A Team took the FIRST PLACE TEAM Trophy, while our Level Bs won the SECOND PLACE TEAM Award.

Out of a possible 30 Individual FIRSTS, our EXTREME Girls WON 18 of them, with 8 of 10 gymnasts winning a FIRST PLACE AWARD!
That’s to go along with NINETEEN PERSONAL BESTS!

However, despite those accomplishments, truth be told, there is a lot of room for improvement from these talented kids. Their first 2 events were sluggish, with many uncharacteristic mistakes and falls. COACHES KIM and NICHOLE are optimistic that the girls will make the necessary adjustments and corrections and CONTINUE TO IMPROVE as the regular season meets wind down and STATES get closer.

The LEVEL B TEAM was led in scoring by BROOKE ANGELLELLA, with a 31.15. BROOKE had PERSONAL BESTS in her ALL-AROUND, BARS and VAULT, where she won FIRST PLACE in that event.

SARAH ALEGRE and NICOLE GILE each also busted 30 and change in their ALL-AROUNDS, giving them PERSONAL BESTS there. NICOLE added a PERSONAL BEST on BARS, while SARAH had her HIGHEST SCORES also on VAULT, BARS and BEAM. NICOLE has now QUALIFIED for B STATES.

Also getting her necessary STATE score was LEA PERO, who had FIRSTS on BARS and FLOOR, while having PERSONAL BESTS on FLOOR, BARS, and her ALL-AROUND.

CAITLYN ELLINGHAM and NICOLA DRAGONETTI added 3 more PERSONAL BEST SCORES, as NICOLA recorded hers on VAULT, which gave her a FIRST PLACE in that event, while CAITLYN had a FIRST on BEAM, and PERSONAL BESTS on that apparatus and on BARS.

HIGH SCORER for the LEVEL A TEAM was OLIVIA LISOWSKI, with a 33.3 overall. OLIVIA had a PERSONAL BEST on BARS, while her “pike tsuk” on VAULT was the events HIGH SCORE. LIV had FIRST PLACE finishes on FLOOR, BARS, VAULT, and ALL-AROUND.

JODIE WINKELREID swept all of the FIRSTS in her age group while achieving PERSONAL BESTS in her ALL-AROUND and VAULT.

CASEY YOUNG and KELLY WISNEWSKI combined for 4 more FIRSTS, with KELLY’S on BARS and CASEY’S on FLOOR, ALL-AROUND, and VAULT, where she had a PERSONAL BEST.

Five consecutive weekends of meets remain before STATES!
BE EXTREME.

JOGA JIVE FINAL LEVEL C 2005/06

Gotta take your hats off to the 3 girls who competed at the Level C State Championship Sunday. Our gymnasts, after learning that their teammate, NICOLA DRAGONETTI, due to a scoring technicality, would not be able to compete, went out and gave an awesome effort, just missing out by 5 hundredths of a tenth of their top scoring effort of the year. Shorthanded!

NICOLE COUGHLIN started the meet off as the very first competitor on floor, and set the tone for the rest of the event, as she came up with one of her very best floor efforts of the year with a 7.75. NICOLE’S score there, just missed out on a PERSONAL BEST SCORE, but gave her an EIGHTH PLACE AWARD on that event nevertheless.

MARGAUX TERHUNE continued her run of having 4 straight meets where she had a PERSONAL BEST in her ALL-AROUND, as her 29.4 topped her previous best by almost a full point and gave MARGAUX a FIFTH PLACE AWARD. She also had PERSONAL BESTS on BEAM and on FLOOR EXERCISE, where her 8.375 not only was the meets 2nd highest individual score, but also gave MARGAUX the FIRST PLACE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP on that event!

Leading the team in scoring and having the HIGHEST ALL-AROUND SCORE for the Level C’s this season was CAITLYN ELLINGHAM, as she put up a 30.05! That lofty number bested her previous personal high score by almost a point and a half and awarded CAITLYN with a SECOND PLACE finish in the STATE ALL-AROUND! Overall, CAITLYN had 3 PERSONAL BESTS, in the aforementioned ALL-AROUND, on FLOOR, and on UNEVEN BARS.

ALL THREE EXTREME GYMNASTS should be CONGRATULATED for their efforts as they pulled together as a TEAM, making COACHES KIM and NICHOLE VERY PROUD of the young girls’ performances!

NICOLA, while disappointed by the ruling that prevented her from competing, still came to SUPPORT her TEAMMATES and will move to LEVEL B, where she has ALREADY QUALIFIED for STATES at that Level.

MARGAUX and CAITLYN, now also move to LEVEL B, while NICOLE should be at that Level by the time next year’s JOGA season starts.

CONGRATULATIONS LEVEL C’S! YOU REPRESENTED YOURSELVES; YOUR TEAM, AND EXTREME GYMNASTICS QUITE RIGHT THANK YOU!

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE A/B #2 01-23-06

Nice dual meet at Arena this past weekend saw the LEVEL A and B teams combine for 5 PERSONAL BESTS and 12 FIRST PLACE FINISHES.

More importantly, ALL 6 GYMNASTS who competed, QUALIFIED for their respective STATES, in just their 2nd meet of the season!

CASEY YOUNG’S TEAM HIGH SCORE of 33.65 in the ALL-AROUND led the girls, with OLIVIA LISOWSKI having the INDIVIDUAL EVENT HIGH SCORE with her 9.1 on VAULT.

KELLY WISNEWSKI had a PERSONAL BEST on FLOOR, while JODIE WINKELREID swept all the FIRSTS in her age group.

ALL of the LEVEL A gymnasts had at least one CONTRIBUTING TEAM SCORE.

The Bs were paced by BROOKE ANGELLELLA, who had PERSONAL BESTS on FLOOR and her ALL-AROUND.

SARAH ALEGRE also had 2 PERSONAL BESTS with hers too, coming in the ALL-AROUND, with the other on VAULT.

LEVEL C kids have their STATES upcoming at CHERRY HILL GYMNASTICS on Sunday January 29th!

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE 01-09-06

This past Sunday, here at EXTREME, was the first meet of 2006 for our Level A and B teams, and the last meet before STATES for the Level Cs.

There were a lot of highlights for ALL the teams, as the girls had a pretty impressive competition.

The LEVEL Cs put up their highest team score of the season, besting their previous best by almost a full point! They were led by CAITLYN ELLINGHAM, who had a team high score of 28.65, which gave her a PERSONAL BEST in her ALL-AROUND. That score gives CAITLYN her first qualifying mark for LEVEL B.

MARGAUX TERHUNE continued her roll, improving her ALL-AROUND for the third straight meet, giving her a PERSONAL BEST there, as well as on BALANCE BEAM. MARGAUX also got her first score necessary for LEVEL B.

SHANA POPOVITCH added a PERSONAL BEST on VAULT, while NICOLE COUGHLIN and NICOLA DRAGONETTI continued their consistent efforts as they progress towards STATES.

For the LEVEL As and Bs, COACHES KIM and NICHOLE were very pleased, as the teams came out of the gate flying with FIFTEEN PERSONAL BESTS! WHILE ALL TEN, in their first meet of the year, got qualifying scores for their respective STATE competitions!

EVERY LEVEL B had at least one HIGHEST SCORE, with the impressive thing, ALL 6 Bs, had PERSONAL BESTS on VAULT!

BROOKE ANGELLELLA led the squad with a team high score of 30.4. This gave BROOKE a PERSONAL BEST there, as well as on BARS and VAULT.

SARAH ALEGRE and KAITLYN OLSON also had three PERSONAL BESTS, with both also getting theirs on VAULT, BARS and the ALL-AROUND.

JESSICA POPOVITCH had her 2 HIGH SCORES on BEAM and VAULT, while NICOLE GILE and LEA PERO had their PERSONAL BESTS on VAULT.

VAULT was also pretty huge for the LEVEL As, as KELLY WISNEWSKI had a PERSONAL BEST on that event, as did OLIVIA LISOWSKI.

OLIVIA’S ALL-AROUND score of 33.85 led the team, and was high score of the competition, while her 9.4 VAULT tied the EXTREME TEAM mark for highest individual event score.

CASEY YOUNG tied her PERSONAL BEST in the ALL-AROUND, while she and JODIE WINKELREID each had multiple, contributing team scores in helping put the A Team over the century mark, with a 101.6 for the competition.

Big THANK YOUS go out to all our TEAM PARENTS, FRIENDS, FAMILY and STAFF who helped with this annual event. We appreciate greatly, your efforts, time, and support!

COACHES DANA and ERIK should be acknowledged as well for their awesome rendition of our National Anthem!

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE 12-12-05

Sunday’s competition was the HIGHEST TEAM SCORE to date for the LEVEL Cs as the girls won a THIRD PLACE TROPHY in the twelve team event.

It was the second meet in a row where ALL the girls contributed a TEAM SCORE, while each gymnast received at least a FOURTH PLACE AWARD.

All in all, the kids had 6 PERSONAL BESTS and 17 TOP 9 places, in just missing out by tenths for second place.

Leading scorer on the team was NICOLA DRAGONETTI, who had a 28.8. NICOLA put up a PERSONAL BEST on BARS, while finishing SECOND in both the ALL-AROUND and BEAM, where she “stuck” her routine.

MARGAUX TERHUNE had the team’s only FIRST PLACE MEDAL, as she won FLOOR EXERCISE with an awesome routine. In fact, out of the 62 gymnasts and 4 age groups in the competition, MARGAUX’S score was the SECOND HIGHEST of all the competitors in this event! She had PERSONAL BESTS on VAULT, FLOOR, and in the ALL-AROUND.

CAITLYN ELLINGHAM chipped in with 4 TOP 9 scores, including a THIRD PLACE on BEAM.

NICOLE COUGHLIN had a PERSONAL BEST on BARS, in completing a routine that was darn near perfect with respect to it’s start value.

SHANA POPOVITCH had her PERSONAL HIGHEST SCORE on BEAM, as she tied CAITLYN for THIRD on that event.

With two meets left in this LEVEL C season before STATES, COACHES KIM and NICHOLE are optimistic that the kids will continue to put up contributing scores, (EVERYBODY COUNTS!), MORE PERSONAL BESTS, keep INCREASING their TEAM SCORE, and PEAK at the year’s final event!

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE 4 12-04-05

Saturday’s meet was the first competition of the year where ALL the LEVEL C’s were present. And collectively, it was a true TEAM EFFORT. While not one of the greatest meets the girls have had this season, the kids combined for NINE PERSONAL BEST SCORES and ELEVEN TOP 8 PLACES.

ALL 5 TEAM MEMBERS had:
1- at least one PERSONAL BEST
2- a contributing TEAM SCORE and
3- at least a FORTH PLACE AWARD on the podium.

The squad was led by high-scorer, NICOLA DRAGONETTI, as she posted a 28.6. NICOLA took FIRST on BALANCE BEAM, had a PERSONAL BEST on FLOOR, and 4 TOP 8 RIBBONS.

CAITLYN ELLINGHAM and MARGAUX TERHUNE chipped in with 3 TOP 8 PLACES, and 2 more PERSONAL BESTS. MARGAUX had her highest score on VAULT, with CAITLYN getting hers on FLOOR.

NICOLE COUGHLIN, in just her second meet of the season, gave EXTREME a 4th gymnast that has now qualified for C-STATES, as she got her second STATE SCORE necessary. NICOLE had a PERSONAL BEST on FLOOR while adding 3 TOP 8 AWARDS.

While just missing out by ONLY a tenth for a STATE SCORE, SHANA POPOVITCH’S effort was truly noteworthy. SHANA had 5 PERSONAL BESTS, including improving her ALL-AROUND score by ALMOST TWO POINTS from her opening meet of the season!

With 3 meets left to go before STATES, EXTREME COACHES KIM and NICHOLE are optimistic that the girls will ALL continue to improve as the competitions wind down to the season’s finale.

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE 3 11-20-05

Being honest here, after the first 2 events Saturday night, it was looking to be a long evening for our LEVEL C team. But the girls pulled it together and put forth strong efforts in their last 2 rotations to come out of this event in pretty decent shape.

While she wasn’t the high scorer on the squad, NICOLE COUGHLIN’S first meet of the season, (and only the 5th competition of her career), was a memorable one, as she had 5 PERSONAL BEST SCORES! In addition, NICOLE got her first qualifying score for C-STATES.

Top scorer was NICOLA DRAGONETTI who put up a 29.2 to lead the team. NICOLA’S ALL-AROUND score was a PERSONAL BEST for her, as was her 8.4 FIRST PLACE VAULT.

EXTREME went 1-2 on this event as NICOLE picked up a 2ND PLACE AWARD behind NICOLA as ALL the girls were able to “FINISH STRONG” with this being their last rotation and highest scoring event for the squad.

SHANA POPOVITCH’S first competition of the year brought her 3 PERSONAL BEST SCORES as she and CAITLYN ELLINGHAM helped add to the team’s 13 TOP 10 places.

In what was a less than stellar meet, COACHES KIM and NICHOLE were happy overall with the 4TH PLACE TEAM finish and 10 PERSONAL BESTS SCORES.

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE #2

Second meet of this young season for our EXTREME TEAM LEVEL C girls this past Sunday.

Once again the “mini-squad” of 3 gymnasts did not disappoint, as the kids picked up a SECOND PLACE TEAM trophy in a competition that had 10 teams entered.

Coaches KIM and NICHOLE had to be pleased with the efforts as all 3 of our participants, NICOLA DRAGONETTI, CAITLYN ELLINGHAM, and MARGAUX TERHUNE, ALL received STATE QUALIFYING SCORES. And now, after just 2 meets, ALL 3 GIRLS ARE IN LEVEL C STATES! n-i-c-e-t-y, NICETY!

Leading the squad, was NICOLA, who posted her 2nd 29.0 overall score in a row, and is now eligible for LEVEL B. Her “stuck” beam routine gave NICOLA a FIRST PLACE MEDAL on that event and helped the team “finish strong” as once again the girls ended the competition on balance beam. Getting a SECOND PLACE AWARD on that apparatus, just tenths behind her teammate, was CAITLYN, who had the meet’s only PERSONAL BEST SCORE with her effort on vault. MARGAUX picked up a THIRD PLACE MEDAL on floor exercise and should be proud to have qualified for STATES after just the first 2 meets of her career!

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE #1 2005-2006 Season

First meet of the year for our LEVEL C team this past Sunday. First meet of her lifetime for gymnast MARGAUX TERHUNE. Up against 11 other schools, and EXTREME having a mini-squad, the girls more than held their own in posting a 4th place team score. The club was lead by NICOLA DRAGONETTI, as she put up a team high score of 29.0 and not only got her first qualifying score for states, but now has one score towards advancing to LEVEL B. Nicola’s total gave her FIRST PLACE in the ALL-AROUND to go along with her FIRST PLACE on BEAM. Putting up 3 PERSONAL BEST scores, including her ALL-AROUND, was CAITLYN ELLINGHAM, who also got her first state qualifying score and just missed getting a “B” SCORE. MARGAUX’s inaugural competition of her career brought her a state qualifying score as well as a FIRST PLACE on FLOOR. All in all coaches KIM and NICHOLE had to be proud as all 3 gymnasts got state scores, while BEAM was particularly pleasing as the EXTREME TEAM swept FIRST, SECOND, and THIRD on that event! And given that it was the final event in the girl’s rotation, the slogan of “FINISH STRONG” will once again ring true this season!

BE EXTREME!

FINAL JOGA JIVE 2004-2005 SEASON

Sometimes the caliber of an athlete is not measured in medals or awards won, but by how one can deal with adversity or degrees of disappointment.

To come back after a fall or a flaw in a routine, truly tests a gymnasts’ makeup.

Many have said that a true champion shows their mettle and character by having the ability to shake things off and having the focus, courage, and heart to move forward. Then if that is indeed true, then EXTREME GYMNASTICS has many champions on our EXTREME TEAM.

Sunday, despite several unusual, [for them], falls on beam and bars, our Level A squad still managed to put up their SECOND HIGHEST TEAM TOTAL of the season in scoring 104.525 and placing SEVENTH out of the TWENTY schools at “A” STATES.

You have to take your hats off to these young competitors as they picked themselves up multiple times and went out and finished in BIG TIME fashion.

“FINISH STRONG” has been a rallying cry all year long and just about every single one of our ladies ended their seasons with almost PERFECT events!

The team was led in scoring by OLIVIA LISOWSKI who put up a TEAM HIGH 34.75 SCORE. LIV had a PERSONAL BEST 9.175 on VAULT, which gave her a SEVENTH PLACE MEDAL on that event. She added another SEVENTH on UNEVEN BARS and a THIRD PLACE AWARD with an awesome FLOOR EXERCISE. OLIVIA wound up her season placing SIXTH in the ALL-AROUND.

EXTREME had a STATE CHAMPION in JULIA GIGLIO, as JULIA almost needed a helmet with her monster, sky-high PIKE “TSUK” on VAULT. Her 9.475 effort there, not only won her the STATE TITLE on that event, but also was EXTREME’S HIGH SCORER INDIVIDUALLY for the meet! JULIA also had a FOURTH PLACE on FLOOR and finished up SEVENTH with a 34.225 in the ALL-AROUND.

Ending their seasons with PERSONAL BEST SCORES on their ALL-AROUNDS were REBECCA RUSSO and KELLY WISNEWSKI going 33.725 and 33.65 respectively. KELLY also had a PERSONAL BEST SCORE on FLOOR, while placing NINTH on both VAULT and BEAM, with a final ALL-AROUND EIGHTH PLACE MEDAL. REBECCA was SIXTH in the ALL-AROUND, FOURTH on BARS, and EIGHTH on BEAM.

TATIANA PERO, our youngest gymnast at STATES, nailed a PERFECT BEAM routine, which gave her the FOURTH PLACE AWARD there. TAT was FIFTH in the ALL-AROUND, while finishing up THIRD on BARS, and NINTH on VAULT.

Having a FIFTH PLACE on FLOOR was CASEY YOUNG, who also added a NINTH PLACE finish in the ALL-AROUND and an EIGHTH on VAULT.

Just missing out on PERSONAL BESTS on BOTH VAULT and FLOOR, was LAURA BENNS who had one of her top meets of the season.

Injuries nagged JESSICA BLOOD over the better part of the last month or so, but she still went out and competed with everything she had despite not being near 100%.

Between the 2 sessions, our girls finished up either on VAULT or FLOOR, and just about every single kid had their meet’s HIGHEST SCORES ending on these events! Proving NO QUIT whatsoever in these athletes!

In an event that was packed with over 130 quality gymnasts, COACHES KIM and NICHOLE were so VERY PROUD of our kids. For their character, their efforts, for their hearts, girls, YOU ARE OUR CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to the gymnasts and their coaches from the other schools that participated at STATES. Many of you have shown lots of class along with true sportsmanship, and have touched us with lots of new friendships.

EXTREME GYMNASTICS hopes we have given you the same.

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE #15  05-02-05

Given this was her first year of competing, and the fact that she was not only one of the youngest Level Bs at STATES, but also our only one, LEA “SWEET PEA” PERO’S efforts should be congratulated.

LEA had TWO of her HIGHEST SCORES EVER this past weekend in a competition that was loaded with talented performers.

Her PERSONAL BEST SCORES came on BEAM and on FLOOR, where she really “showed it off”, in just missing out on medalling.

While no awards were in the offering this day, “SWEET PEA’S” sense of sportsmanship made EXTREME GYMNASTICS very proud, as she constantly cheered on and offered encouragement to the other kids in her rotation.

Nice job, LEA. You represented yourself and our school in fine fashion!

BE EXTREME!

JOGA JIVE #14  04-23-05

At first thought, one might consider this last meet not up to par with expectations from the Level A Team. But in reviewing the girl’s efforts on Saturday night, you can surmise that bigger and better things are forthcoming. Call it character, desire, whatever, the Level A’s proved their mettle by closing out the meet in such a strong fashion on their final event that it just goes to show that there is no quit in these ladies’ hearts

“FINISH STRONG” has been a rallying cry all season long for all of the EXTREME TEAMS, and the Level A’s once again brought that slogan to fruition with an event high 27.2 on vault, the last event in their rotation. That score helped give them the THIRD PLACE TEAM AWARD, finishing with a total score of 103.25 in what was a highly competitive affair. That final total is the third highest team score the girl’s have put up in their eight meets this season.

Leading the team was OLIVIA “BABY BUBBA” LISOWSKI, with the individual high score of 34.65, which gave her the FIRST PLACE MEDAL in the ALL-AROUND. LIV also captured FIRST PLACE on FLOOR, while she had a PERSONAL BEST score on UNEVEN BARS.

In addition to OLIVIA’S 2 AWARDS, FIRST PLACE MEDALS were also given out to JULIA “JEWELS” GIGLIO on VAULT, “TAT” TATIANA PERO on UNEVEN BARS and ALL-AROUND, and “THE WIZ-ARD”, KELLY WISNEWSKI on BALANCE BEAM. KELLY’S “DOUBLE TURN” on BEAM, drew “wows” from the crowd and was a first for her in competition!

Closing out her meet with a gigantic “PIKE TSUK” on VAULT, JULIA nailed the first 9.5 of the team’s season, giving her a PERSONAL BEST on that event. That lofty number is now the individual high score for the year and the goal for ALL of the girls to shoot for at A STATES!

Additional highlights included JULIA and KELLY’S “DOUBLE BACKS” on BARS, and LAURA “SEGA!” BENNS’ Cirque du Soleil-like effort on BEAM. Which even had the other team in our rotation giving her big applause.

CASEY “BONES” YOUNG, along with the 6 other gymnasts, all helped contribute 2 SECONDS, 3 THIRDS, and 5 additional top 10 scores to go with the 6 FIRSTS.

COACHES KIM and NICHOLE were proud of the way the kids finished up, and are looking forward, VERY MUCH, to the girl’s putting everything together at STATES!

BE EXTREME!!

JOGA JIVE #13  04-12-05

One would be hard-pressed not to recognize the accomplishments of the EXTREME TEAM at their most recent event. In front of a “home” crowd, with this meet coming in OUR gym, the LEVEL A’s and B’s had their highest scoring efforts to date and put up a MONSTEROUS FORTY ONE PERSONAL BEST SCORES!! 41!

ALL 14 gymnasts who competed had at least one highest score, with TEN of 14, having PERSONAL BESTS on their ALL-AROUNDS!

Leading the way for the B’s was PAIGE “PANCAKES” APPELT, who put up a 32.75, giving her a PERSONAL BEST there, as well as on BARS and of course, BEAM. PAIGE goes into next season with lofty expectations as she finished this season so very strong!

DARIAN “MISS INDEPENDENT” SIMARD had her best meet ever, improving her ALL-AROUND by THREE POINTS, and posting FIVE PERSONAL BESTS!

RACHEL BLOOD goes into B STATES with momentum after busting 30 and change total score, highlighted with a PERSONAL BEST on FLOOR.

“SWEET P”, LEA PERO, had one last opportunity to qualify for B STATES, and she successfully accomplished that goal with ease as she added 4 MORE PERSONAL BESTS for the B squad.

The B TEAM bested their highest total team score by OVER 3 POINTS in finishing with a 94.35 final score!

Not to be outdone, the EXTREME TEAM LEVEL A’s appear to be getting their “A GAME” together with STATES nearing, as they too, set a new TEAM HIGH SCORE with a 106.6, topping their previous high by 3.2 points!

FOUR gymnasts scored over 34 points, led by JULIA “JEWELS” GIGLIO, who set a new TEAM HIGH INDIVIDUAL SCORE with a 35.45! JULIA had 3 of the LEVEL A’s TWENTY EIGHT PERSONAL BESTS, and that’s not counting her 9.4 VAULT!

Tying JULIA for the EVENT HIGHEST SCORE was “BABY BUBBA”, OLIVIA LISOWSKI who capped off the FLOOR exercise with a 9.4 on that event as well. That effort gave her a PERSONAL BEST there as well as on BARS.

TATIANA “TAT” PERO put up FIVE PERSONAL BESTS, as she is flying into STATES with a big late season push!

“SEGA!”, LAURA BENNS is making a statement after her flawless BEAM routine, and FOUR MORE PERSONAL BESTS!

Getting her FIRST 9 ever, was C
